A.L.S. ([18]98 April 12) with A. envelope to Thompson on "the art of ʻbronzingʼ copper so as to make it look like bronze." After detailing this "quaint" method, Roberts-Austen notes that he uses the "Japanese, or Wet Method" ; on letterhead of the Royal Mint.

Born Roberts, assumed the names Chandler and Roberts-Austin at the request of an uncle. Educated at the School of Mines and became assistant to Graham, then master of the mint. There is a printed order form tipped in, saying the edition would be limited to 225 copies and printed by Ernest Enthoven at the Essex House Press.
